1. 100% In-Browser Execution Pipeline
Legacy compression services require transmitting raw megapixels over HTTP POST requests to remote servers. This introduces network latency, privacy hazards, and server egress costs.
Onlineimagecompressortool runs the entire pipeline locally inside your browser process:
createImageBitmap() off the main thread.canvas.toBlob()image/webp, image/jpeg, image/png)..zip bundle.2. Discrete Cosine Transform & Psycho-Visual Quantization
When compressing photos (JPEG and WebP), the algorithm shifts from the spatial domain (pixels with x, y coordinates) to the frequency domain (amplitudes of cosine oscillations).
// 2D Type-II Discrete Cosine Transform formulation
F(u, v) = 1/4 * C(u) * C(v) * Σ [x=0..7] Σ [y=0..7] f(x, y) * cos[(2x+1)uπ/16] * cos[(2y+1)vπ/16]
The resulting 8×8 frequency coefficient matrix contains the DC coefficient (average block luminance) at position (0, 0) and escalating high frequencies toward position (7, 7). By applying a non-linear quantization matrix tuned to the Human Visual System (HVS), high-frequency subtleties are rounded to zeros, which collapse under run-length and Huffman entropy encoding.
3. Compression Efficiency Benchmarks
Benchmark results measured across 1,000 photographic and graphic sample assets at 1920×1080 resolution:

|---|---|---|---|---|
| JPEG (Quality 80%) | 3.4 MB | 680 KB | -80.0% | 0.984 (Imperceptible) |
| PNG to WebP (Quality 80%) | 4.2 MB | 590 KB | -85.9% | 0.991 (Ultra Crisp) |
| WebP (Quality 75%) | 1.8 MB | 380 KB | -78.9% | 0.982 (Web Optimal) |
| SVG Vector XML Minify | 420 KB | 145 KB | -65.5% | 1.000 (Lossless Vector) |
